The Chambal Safari (Gharial Safari)
The Chambal River Ghariyal Safari is located in the palighat, which is approximately 35 km from Ranthambore National Park. The safari can be easily accessed by road and takes around 1 hour to reach.
The safari usually lasts around 2-3 hours and takes you on a boat ride down the Chambal River. During the ride, you’ll get to witness the ghariyals basking in the sun on the river banks or swimming in the water. Apart from ghariyals, you may also spot other wildlife such as marsh crocodiles, turtles, dolphins, and a variety of birds such as the Indian skimmer, black-bellied tern, and river lapwing.
The safari is conducted by trained guides who provide interesting insights into the ecology of the river and the wildlife that call it home. They also ensure that visitors maintain a safe distance from the animals and do not disturb their natural habitat.
In addition to the day safari, some tour operators also offer night safaris that take you on a journey to discover the nocturnal creatures that come alive on the river after sunset. These tours offer a unique perspective and are a great way to experience the Chambal River in a different light.
Overall, the Chambal River Ghariyal Safari is a thrilling and educational experience that provides a rare opportunity to witness the ghariyal and other wildlife up close in their natural habitat. It’s a great addition to any wildlife lover’s itinerary while visiting Rajasthan.
